For July 4th we headed to the beach! Joey's grandparents have a house in Topsail Island so we stayed there over the weekend. Ayden rode with Joey's parents and Brock and Bethany rode with Joey and I so the 1 1/2 trip down there was actually pretty pleasant, praise God! We stopped at Andy's on 111 for dinner and the kids were so well behaved; it was a proud momma moment!
We got to the beach about 8:30 pm Friday night. Friday is normally our family night so we continued our weekly routine with popcorn and a movie. When Ayden realized his great grandma and papa were not down there yet he got upset; he said "wait a minute.... if great grandma is not here who is going to fix me breakfast?!" .... that shows he has a lot of faith in his mom's cooking huh?!

The next morning Brock & Bethany were up bright and early at 4:55 am ready to go! Ayden was our late sleeper, not waking up until 7:00 am. Joey's dad fixed eggs and grits and then we headed outside to play in the water.
Next was the annual "Third Street Parade". All the residents of third street decorated their golf carts, cars, etc. and paraded down the road throwing candy out.

After a perfect "beach day lunch" turkey and ham sandwiches and cheese puffs the kids were knocked out.... well, Bethany was and the boys
attempted to lay down.

Aunt Donna and cousin Kayla and Brylee arrived at the perfect time right as the kids were up from their naps so they could get back out in the water. This time they ventured out into the canal instead of the kiddie pool.

Next was some downtime, hotdogs and hamburgers for dinner and then fireworks!

After the fireworks and baths Bethany, Brock, & I settled in for the night and the rest of the family followed shortly. The next morning and got up the next morning Bethany and Brock decided to sleep in .... till 6:00 am. Around 8:00 am we enjoyed another great breakfast and they kids went out to ride on their three wheelers for a couple hours. Joey & I and the kids packed up and headed out about 11:00 am around the time the kids would be going to sleep for a nap (
smart thinking :) Within 30 minutes of getting on the rode Bethany was asleep and about 15 minutes later the boys were out too.... so for about an hour of the ride it was pretty peaceful. When we hit LaGrange Bethany & Ayden were both awake so they fought the whole rest of the way home but other than that I would have to say it was a great trip.
As soon as we got home we unpacked the car, threw the dirty clothes in the washer and headed over to my mom and dad's for a July 4th dinner. My dad had cooked chicken, hotdogs, corn on the cob, potato salad and cut up a watermelon but all of my brothers and sister were gone so there was no one to eat it! The Lancaster family stepped up to the plate and put a nice dent in the food :)
