A little after 12:00 am Saturday morning Samantha was admitted to the hospital. Around 3:00 am I arrived and then Jennifer (our sister n law). Chris (Logan's dad) went home for a while so it was just us girls for about three hours. Samantha was only dilated a couple of centimeters but she was in a lot of pain.

Around 5:30 am the nurse made all of us leave and take a "breakfast break" while she and Samantha had a "talk". Samantha wasn't used to the type of pain she was in and was saying some ugly things so the nurse wanted to let her know that she couldn't talk like that and she had to be nice to us. It wasn't funny to Sam at the time but I think she can laugh about it now.

When we came back up from breakfast a little after 7:00 the doctor decided that they would go ahead and give Samantha an epidural.

Once Sam got the epidural she was able to sleep and the pain seemed to ease off..... for a little while. Less than an hour later the pain came back!

A little after lunch the doctor decided that they were going to get Samantha to try to get ready to push. All of the sudden the baby's heart rate dropped and everyone seemed to panic.
After trying to push for almost an hour they were forced to do an emergency C-section.

My mom was terrified, Samantha is the baby of the family and it was so scary to see her this way. Samantha wanted my mom to go in there with her so Chris stayed in the waiting room.

Logan was out within minutes! We were all so excited but our first glances of him had to be through the glass windows of the nursery. My mom was so excited running down the hall yelling "did you see him, did you see him?!" He was perfect (his head a little cone shaped) but perfect. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces.

Samantha took a little longer for us to be able to see her, they had to stitch her up and let her recover.
Later that night I stayed with Samantha and the baby. It was so weird being the one sleeping in the uncomfortable chair and being woke up each time as the nurses came in to do their rounds. I actually enjoyed it though. I met some really nice nurses throughout the night :)

So far Logan has turned out to be a pretty easy baby, he sleeps and only seems to cry when he needs something. Samantha is very lucky to have him and he is very lucky to have her. We are all very thankful to have this new baby boy in our lives!
