My Baby Doll is Two!
When I asked Bethany what she wanted for her birthday she said "cupcakes and baby dolls!"
That was a piece of cake after the boy's birthday requests! Sunday night Bethany helped me make 36 cupcakes for the next day. We took 12 little ones to her school and saved the others for her birthday party at home.
A few weeks before I took her to the party store and we went to the baby shower isle and I let her pick out some little trinkets for the cupcakes. She was so cute, she would go "hmmmm," and tap the bottom of her chin while she tried to decide if she wanted pacifiers or bottles. (we ended up getting both)
We had ate dinner as a family and then at 7:00 the rest of the family came over.... well, 1/2 of the rest of the family came over. My dad, Joey's mom and dad and my grandma were there on time so after the boy wrestled with their "papa's" we went ahead and started the birthday.

Brock couldn't wait for Bethany to blow out her candles so we had to relight them and let Bethany blow them out.

Bethany got everything she wanted.. .a Barbie, baby doll clothes, dress up clothes for her, hair bows, money, & a purse with the accessories.

After presents were opened we all went outside to fly the kite we got the boys. and Bethany got to do her favorite thing... SWING!
My brother, his daughters, my mom and little sister arrive just as we were finishing up so Bethany got round two of her birthday. She got to open another present and have fun with her cousins.

About 9:00 everyone got baths and was ready for bed. Bethany picked out her book for me to read to her like she does every night, I tucked her in, kissed her goodnight and told her baby doll goodnight. Bethany is a biblical name. The village of Bethany was identified as being approximately 2 miles from Jerusalem, on the slope of the Mount of Olives. It was in Bethany that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and was anointed with expensive perfume by a woman. It's also known as the house of God.
It's funny because out of all three of my children Bethany is our miracle child because she is the only one that actually sleeps at night and she sleeps peacefully at that. I often wonder if it's her name that gives her peaceful rest? Jesus commands that we rest once a week, we have to rest to survive. This is something that I myself have a very hard time with. Since Bethany was born she would be just as content if she was in my arms. As long as you were holding her she was fine. Isn't that how we are with God, when we know that our maker is holding on to us we can rest so peacefully but as soon as we move away it seems as though the world suddenly becomes too much.
My daughter Bethany is a great reminder of what beautiful rest looks like.
(She also reminds me what abundant energy looks like :)
Happy 2nd birthday my sweet Bethy! I love you.
