It's rare that Joey and I get to go on a date night.... maybe once every two months if that so this week getting to go out twice was a huge event!
Our first date was the "Can't wait Valentine's date on Friday, February 8th at The Bridge Princeton Campus. This was a lot of fun! We had Bishops catering for dinner which is always delicious and tons of funny entertainment from the church. The big moment that sticks out to me was a game that out of 300+ people we were chosen to play.... This game consisted of (2) tables, (2) boxes of conversation hearts and Joey and I using only our lips to travel the boxes back and forth while competing against another couple! Well, for starters, I'm not a "sports or competitive type of person, 2nd, I get nervous on stage and infront of large crowds and 3rd I was in heels and several devices to hold in my mommy stomach, thighs and other random parts that had a mind of their own after kids and 30! As the instructions were being told I literally blanked out and thought I was going to pass out! Well the start was called and luckily my husband guided me and my lip gloss wasn't too slippery and we won! I have no idea how many people were flashed in the course of the game but hey I won a necklace and Joey and I had team work so I guess that's all that matters!
The next night, Saturday we got to go on another date. This one was for the Kitty Adkins Hospice Center Mardi Gras Gala. Our friend Sandra Bond gave us two tickets for a dinner. Now this was a little outside my comfort zone because the food was the spicy Louisiana type but hey, you're never to old to try new things! We enjoyed another night of spending quality time with each other.
It's so important to date your spouse. In the hectic times of life you can go weeks, sometimes months and look over at your spouse and think "who is that?" When children come into the picture it's so easy to put them first but God's plan is for us to put God first, then our spouse and then our children. If we want to be great parents first we have to be a great couple. Our goal is to try to date each other as much as possible because when the kids are grown and starting lives of their own it's back to just Joey and Amy so we better do our part to make that time enjoyable not just settling.
