Yesterday for a Valentine's gift our church gave every family a couples devotional book. The very first devotion was on Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Boy, did we need that! This weekend our children drove us nuts. I have vowed never to give them candy again! I could have said the sky is orange and Ayden would have protested and said it was purple. He actually got up this morning and put himself in "time-out" and patiently sat in it without me asking, like he was going ahead and getting his punishment out of the way before he misbehaved.
Laughter and joy, sometimes we get so caught up in our lives that we forget to stop and laugh. Laughter makes all the fustration take a break for a moment.
The exercise in our devotion was to think about moments that made us laugh the most. My memory flashed back to Joey and I on our honeymoon at a timeshare in Flordia. We were eating downstairs and an old man walked by in a little bikini brief and just kind of stopped in front of Joey with his bottom in Joey's face. If I had a picture of Joey's face at that moment, oh what I would give to of captured that! Joey's memory was an embarrassing one for me so because I'm writing this, I get to leave it out :)
So starting today for every moment that I think "Ok God, I'm going to snap" I'm going to think of a moment of laughter to replace it. Today I am thinking about the time that Ayden and Brock destroyed their room in a matter of 45 seconds and I couldn't punish them because they just looked too cute.
(They do this a lot)
Have you laughed today?
Good job, Amy! You figured out how to do a background and captions. I like the photos!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. You are so right, Amy. You have to remember to laugh; especially, when you are a Mom of Three=D Grace and Jacob say and do so many funny things in a days time. I sometimes wonder when I have time to be upset with them=D Jacob, for example, on this particular day was very clingy. He wouldn't even let me go to the bathroom alone. Frustrating! So, while we were in there...he was beside me on the floor whinning and then all of a sudden he POPS UP! "Mommy, I want a popsisle (popsicle)? In his hand is one of mine "personal items!" I busted out laughing! Before that I was ready to scream....Thiking.."I can't even go to the bathroom in PEACE!!!!! Then my little man goes and does that=D. It's those moments you will never forget. I think it is also important not to take yourself so seriously...try not to be so hard on your own self. Laugh with your kids and go out and be silly with them sometimes. LET GO!
