The Value of a Dollar

Ayden was so excited, he got $33.00 for his birthday. My grandma was so smart to think about making sure he got a wallet too so he could keep up with his birthday money. This age is such a precious age because he is learning how to comprehend and understand new things everyday. Obviously, looking at my blogs you would think I only have one child this month! With Ayden receiving money and really knowing what money is now I knew that I could throw in a life lesson here. We went over how we always want to give Jesus a small portion of our money because He's the one that gives us all of our money. It was so sweet, that little boy didn't hesitate a bit to put a little bit of his money aside for Jesus. In fact, he was a little excited and couldn't wait to go to "God's house" and give Jesus his money. Ayden loves to have the order of his day given to him in the morning (I wonder where he gets this OCD behavior ...... :) Monday morning I explained to him as I was getting him dressed that we would first go to school, then go to itsyougrandmas (he calls my grandma "ityougrandma" because when he was a baby she would watch him every Wednesday night while I went to church and everytime we came through the door she would be so excited and say "it's you grandma" so that stuck and that's what he calls his great grandma.) then we would go home to eat, and then just me and him would go to town and buy whatever he wanted with his money. As I drove up to the daycare Monday afternoon Ayden was perched up ontop of the slide waiting for me, his eyes lit up and he yelled "now we are going to God's house and town!" and I yelled back "yup!" That child doesn't forget a thing. We left daycare and he got to go to his ityougrandmas to help "daddy" mow her grass while I took Brock and Bethany to the chiropractor's office (Brock had a sinus infection) After the grass was mowed Ayden and I were off to town. When we got to Walmart I told Ayden he could pick out anything that he wanted. We headed straight to the toy isle. Ayden found lots of items that he wanted but he finally setteled on a big tool set. Strangely, the other item that he wanted was a cookie jar so we narrowed our search down to two glass cookie jars and then he finally chose the tall one and two bags of cookies to fill them up. I wish I could bottle up the smile on my baby's face as we got up to the counter and he handed his money over to the cashier. The lady rang everything up and it came to exactly what he had, (not really but throwing in the extra 2.37 was no big deal). As we were about to leave he asked "when do I get my money back" I had to let him know that the receipt in his hands and the bags in the cart were what he exchanged for his money; surprisingly he didn't throw a fit and understood. We got home and he showed his dad all of his neat stuff. I think Joey was more excited about the tool set than Ayden!
