Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving celebrations actually started Tuesday at my work. Every year we have a huge feast and enjoy a meal with our "Andy's family" This year was wonderful, we had a lot to be grateful for. Within the past few months we almost lost two of our corporate office employees, Mr. Barry and Chris Brock and both of them through a lot of prayer and their strong will survived and were back at work within a couple of weeks! Also, we were thankful to still be here. This year was year that a lot of businesses failed and several people lost their jobs. We are so thankful to work for a company that is still expanding and going strong. Wednesday night we met at Wilber's BBQ for the Lancaster family's get together. Wilber's actually ran out of BBQ! now, that's when you know you've got some big eaters! Ayden ate so much food I didn't know how the child was going to get out of his seat. He loved the chicken and the skin which he called "brown chicken"; Brock's favorite was the hushpuppies which he called corn dogs because he got to use the butter knife to cut them up and feed to his sister. Bethany loved everything as usual. After the kids ate they made their way around room saying hey to everyone and Bethany made sure to hit every person in the room (that's her way of being social :) Ayden loved the Christmas tree they had in the corner with the little pigs as ornaments. I was so proud of the kids, they ate and didn't act up a bit! They got a little restless towards the end but for the most part they were really good. The older the kids get the easier it is to do things. Joey and I look back over the past three years and think "how did we survive?" We have took them to the beach and out to eat places and how we did it I honestly can't tell you. I do remember going out to eat at Chili's one time, Bethany was only about a month old, Ayden 2 and Brock just had turned 1. Ayden started throwing his food into other people plates in the booth behind us and then Brock started crying and then Bethany tuned up, Joey had to take Ayden out and there I was with two screaming kids thinking "What were we thinking?????" Times like that are the ones that really make you stronger. If we can take three toddlers out in public we can do anything! Thursday was the big turkey day. The kids were up all through out the night before so Joey ended up in the boy's bed, the boys ended up in our bed sprawed out and Bethany was the only one who got a whole night's sleep. Bethany and Brock were up by 7:00 and Ayden for the first time ever slept until 10:00 !!!! I fed the kids a banana for breakfast so they would have plenty of room for turkey and ham in a few hours. The night before I had packed all of the bags we needed for the next day with changes of clothes, diapers, emergency pacifiers, sippy cups of juice, and our Christmas cards to give out to all the family members (I saved a ton on stamps by hand delivering them :) Our first stop was "great grandma and papa's" house. This is Joey's mom's mom and dad. I am always amazed going over there because at 12:00 everything is ready and hot, the dishes are all cleaned up and lunch is ready to eat. Joey's grandma had made ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, deviled eggs, and lots of great desserts! The next stop was my mom and dad's house. My mom had a huge spread and my favorite pink salad! The kids were so tired after leaving Joey's grandparent's house that they slept in the car for about an hour and gave Joey and I a little break. After we left my mom and dad's house it was back to Joey's grandparent's house for seconds! This time his aunt, uncle, & cousins were over there so it was a nice little family reunion. We were so stuffed but had a wonderful time fellowshiping with family, laughing, and just enjoying the family time.
