Basketball Anyone?

January, February 27th was the big game. The team Ayden played for, the Blue Devils were undefeated and this was the game that would determine their whole season.
The game started at 6:00 so we got there about 5:30 to practice. Brock and Bethany got to ride home with their "cousin" Mrs. Valerie so Joey and I could focus are whole attention on Ayden for this game. The kids were so sweet, I don't think that they even realized how big this game was. They just practiced and had fun like it was a regular ol' game.

Ayden's strongest sport is not basketball so he sat out of the game a little more than usual because it was such an important game (a smart move on the coaches part :)
Ayden didn't care though, he just loved going to the games!
He did get in the game a couple times and helped with an assist.
They were playing against the Terps which was a really good team so the kids had to really be on their game this time.
The last 5 minutes of the game it looked like we were going to lose
but with a little pep talk and some extra energy

 they were ready!

and in the last 2 minutes we won it! Honestly, I couldn't even tell you what the score was. We were so excited that I didn't even look! Those kids were so happy!

 Each child got a medal

and the whole team got a trophy

the sponsor of the team Mr. Boykins will proudly showcase the trophy in his Insurance shop.
Joey and I wanted to get something special for the coaches, Tim and Laura, who did an outstanding job with the kids so we spray painted basketballs gold and had all the kids sign them.
I also made them a card from us.
The kids did an amazing job, the talent of those little ones blew me away.

Ayden wore his medal with such honor
Afterwards Joey and I took him to Pizza Village to celebrate

A few weeks later Ayden got to have pizza again when the team sponsor took them out for pizza & games again!

Ayden had a great time playing for the Blue Devils this year. He had so many memorable moments from first learning how to dribble the ball to the last game holding on to that ball for dear life so the other team couldn't get it. He met some wonderful kids and had an experience of a lifetime!
oh and he learned how to "play a little ball" too :)
