Brock's first day of kindergarten, I honestly didn't know if we were going to get here
Last year Brock got in trouble so much in preschool I was really nervous about him entering kindergarten
Brock was all suited up with his dinosaur booksac with this name monogrammed on it. I tried to give the teachers a heads up by getting him a shirt that says "tough little guy" on it. Last year I remember how shocked people would get when they saw this sweet little boy become such a terror within minutes. Brock just goes to show you that big surprises come in small packages :)
but from the time Brock entered the doors something seemed different about him.
He had a shy, confident attitude about him that made me feel like this year was going to be different. Brock seemed to have grown up so much in those couple months over the summer.
His teachers are Mrs. Atwood and Mrs. Collins, which were Ayden's teachers last year so I knew that he would have a supportive team and two ladies who were already familiar with him.
He found his name and sat down.
I kept waiting for the "ok, I'm ready to go home now" .... but surprisingly it didn't come.
After stalling for as long as I could to savor the moments of Brock's first day of kindergarten it was time for a quick photo with mom and goodbyes.
Brock has always been so silly that you just can't cry with him. He reminds me a lot of my side of the family; we use humor to get through just about everything. That trait really has helped at times when I wanted to breakdown and sob when things got tough as a parent; My little Brockie always finds a way to do or say some thing that just makes me break out into laughter.
There were no tears leaving this little man that day, only little nervous butterflies wondering how he was going to do.
Well, Brock made it through the day and had a great adventure on the kindergarten "pirate ship"
That feeling I had about Brock as he entered the doors the first day was right, he was different.
Brock has behaved everyday since the first day of school. He is excelling in his work and loves school.
Brock surprised us so much this year getting on "Pink" within the first week (It took Ayden the entire year to accomplish this!) and getting to sit in the "Good Behavior" seat for the week. We are so proud of Brock and so excited to see what this year will bring for him!
