Mother's Day 2009

My Mother's Day started off with Ayden waking me up at 6:30 saying "mommy, I threw up" I got up and sure enough the pot pie that he had ate for lunch the day before was all over his bed. I got him all cleaned up and changed his sheets and put him back to bed. About ten minutes later I heard him coughing again and once again a little bit more had came up. There was no going back to sleep at this point so I got a nice bubble bath ready for Ayden and started washing another load of sheets. I then got Brock & Bethany dressed. It was funny Joey woke up and looked at Ayden all ready for church and said "how did you get dressed" It was nice though, I kind of liked starting my day off being needed by my babies. Saturday (the day before) I took the kids to the barber shop so Ayden could get his haircut and they did so good that I told them we could go shopping. We went to Target, Ayden & Brock promised they would be good. We only went to the dollar isle and I let them pick out gifts for my grandma, their "itshugrandma" Again, they did great, I was so proud of them. It is very rare that all three children behave at the same time and in public, now that's just an act from God! I got a bag of popcorn and one smoothie and we all shared it on a bench in front of Target. That was one of those moments that I wish I could have just bottled up and saved forever. My babies looked so precious sharing their popcorn and smoothie with the wind blowing and the sun shining, it was just a small glimpse of heaven that touched me so. We left Target and went over to their "itshugrandmas". Every Saturday for the past couple of months on Saturday my grandma will watch the boys so Bethany and I can go grocery shopping for about 2 hours. She takes them outside to play, water flowers, & feed the birds, feeds them lunch, and then hands them back over to me all wore out so they will fall asleep in the car and take a two hour nap. My grandma just doesn't know how much that means to me to give me that little bit of time where my boys are happy and taken care of and I can go grocery shopping and spend time with Bethany guilt free. Saturday night Joey and I went out to eat at Chilis with a gift card we had received for our birthdays while my mom watched all the kids(my mom is so brave). It was so relaxing to eat a hot meal and not have to rush through it. We were able to talk and not get interupted because someone wanted more juice or needed more cheese (that would be Brock, that child eats more cheese than a cartoon mouse!) Joey got me a digital photo frame that goes on my keys, which I love, a bouquet of flowers, a very sweet card. He also had all the kids draw on a card that had a photo of a baby sucking on a pacy on the front and inside it said "mom, life would really suck without you" that was so cute. I knew he had let the kids color on the card because a couple of days before I had found where they had also colored on the floor, walls, and underneath Brock's new drum set! Sorry Joey, nice try but never give the kids crayons, everything is a blank canvas to them! At church we had a bake sale going on which went really good, we made over $500. After church we went to Joey's mom and dad's house to drop Joey and the boys off. We got Terri (Joey's mom) got a gift certificate for a family portrait from sara young photography www.sarayoungphotography.typepad.com ,some flowers, and a card from the kids. She got me a gift certificate for a salon so I can eigther get my hair done or a pedicure, I haven't decided yet but can't wait to be pampered! Next, Bethany and I headed to my mom's house for KFC chicken and the fixings. Bethany decided that she didn't want to be put down so it wasn't the best dining experience I've ever had having to hold a baby and every time I leaned down to take a bite, she would grab the closest food and throw it, but that's ok, it's the thought that counts and I was there to spend time with my mom. We got my mom a gift certificate for a family portrait too. After we left my mom's I went back to Joey's mom and dads to get them and the neatest thing happened. I was able to take a nap, yup, you heard me! I got to take a nap! This is a very very rare past time that I haven't been able to do in,.... well, I can't remember the last time I took a nap! About 6:00 we all went home and Ayden and Joey planted the cucumber plant that Ayden had got me (from daycare) and a flower that the church nursury had given all the mom's. They also put up a fence to make the backyard a little kid friendly. A fence we really needed, now that's another blog, details later. Now, I know your not supposed to work on Sunday but I didn't consider this work. Looking outside and seeing Joey spray painting a fence to get rid of the rust and Ayden right beside him with a spray bottle of water spraying just as hard as he could to look like daddy, that wasn't them working, that was a true bonding moment. I had a wonderful Mother's Day, I have a wonderful Mother's life. Everyday is an adventure, sometimes I want to pull my hair out but I remember being a mom is a blessing. Those babies and my husband are the greatest gift that God has given me after my salvation.
