The Lancaster's head to the Beach!

Last Friday, June 5th we decided to get away and headed to the beach. Joey's grandparents have a house right by the beach at Topsail Island so we decided to head down there Friday night, stay the night and come back on Saturday afternoon. Friday, after I got home from work, we fed the kids peanut butter & jelly sandwiches (their favorite) & applesauce, bathed them and got on the road. I had packed everything the day before and made sure with a list that we had everything.... except sippy cups! How could I forget sippy cups, that's like forgetting to pack pacifiers!!!!! We'll by the time I realized that I forgot that basket on the counter with the cups and snacks we were about 30 minutes into our trip. I had Joey pull over at a Family Dollar and I got three sippy cups. I was agrivated with myself for forgetting them for about 30 more minutes until we came upon a wreck that had just happened. The car was flipped over covering the road. Immediatley I said to myself "thank you God for allowing me to forget those cups, causing me to stop for 4 minutes to buy more and allowing me to miss this wreck which could have killed my entire family. God is good and holds us in the palm of His hands. We arrived at the beach about 8:30 and all three kids were out.... until the car doors opened and they smelled that beach air. The kids immediatley perked up, and once out of there car seats the boys were running all around the concrete patio underneath the house. After the car was unloaded we brought the kids up and chatted with Joey's grandma and grandpa and attempted to put the kids to bed. Notice my wording "attempted" Bethany went to sleep like a champ, I put her in the pack and play and she was out until the next morning. Joey being the smart one opted to sleep in the room that Bethany was in "to get up with her throughout the night" so needless to say Joey got a full night rest. I slept in a bed with two monkey's named Ayden & Brock. They tossed and turned and got up ALL NIGHT! At 3:00 am Brock had lost his pacy and you would have thought he lost an arm or something. He was screaming for his pacy and I searched no lie for like 20 minutes, I looked in the sheets, under the bed, in his clothes, everywhere. In fustration I said Brock, where is that pacy!? and then Ayden turned his precious little head with a huge michevious smile that was covered with ... you guessed it... Brock's pacy! I could have pinched his head off! So, finally Brock got his pacy and they went back to sleep for about 17 minutes. At 6:30 am all the kids were up and ready to go. Joey's grandma made a great breakfast with scrambled eggs (another one of my kid's favorite) cheese grits, & sausage. The best part to me was the coffee which I drank black hoping it somehow would have more caffine in it if I left out the creamer. At about 9:00 am we headed to the beach. It was really windy and cold but we didn't care. Ayden and daddy headed for the water and Brock, Bethany, & I stayed back where in my opinion it's safer (I hate the water & all the stuff in it) Ayden ran screaching and playing and repeatedly said he wouldn't go in the water. I turned my back for about 30 seconds and Ayden jumps in the water... fully clothed! That kid is going to make my hair gray by the time I'm 30 I know it :) We left the beach after that and headed back to the house carring loads of sand with us. The boys stayed outside with their dad being entertained by what they thought was a crab in the sound but it was really a crab shell (they didn't know the difference). I got Bethany cleaned up and laid down for her mid morning nap she likes to take on the weekends. Later I tried to lay the boys down for a nap but they weren't having it. Joey's grandma made a big lunch of hamburger steak and gravy, corn, butter beans, & biscuts. It was great. I packed everything up and loaded the car while Joey kept the kids entertained (he's so much better and funner at that then I am). We said our goodbyes and headed home. Luckily the kids slept the entire way home so it was a very peaceful and quick drive home. When we got home it was time for Gavin's birthday party. My friend from high school had a little boy just a few weeks after Bethany was born. The boys stayed home with Joey and Bethany and I quickly changed an headed over to the party. Bethany ate well like she always does. She ate my entire plate of BBQ, baked beans, pasta salad and cake and finished it with her sippy cup of juice. She played with the kids and helped open presents. She even got a present of her own. Gavin had her birthday present since he wasn't able to come to her party (they live in SC) She got a beautiful sun dress, scroll down and you'll see it, she wore it on Sunday. We got home just before 8:00 and I bathed her put her to bed and helped Joey finish cleaning up the house. The next day we had church and dinner at Joey's parents like we do every Sunday. The boys, well, really Ayden was so excited because grandma had got them a pool! Brock is in the stage right now where he hates water unless it's a quick bath. Ayden on the other hand, can't get enough of the stuff. They kids played outside and finshed up their weekend right. It was a great weekend.
