Grandma Lancaster hooked the kids up with new sandals to "start them off on the right foot" for school
Mom reminded them to start their day with a smile
Brock didn't have school that day so he got to go with dad to work
but he didn't forget to love his brother bye and wish him a great first day
Mom made sure he had all his school supplies
then we headed in to his class
I just knew that as soon as he opened that door that I was going to get emotional
but surprisingly I didn't. Ayden is a strong willed child and has always been able to take care of himself
so I wasn't really worried that kindergarten would be a huge transition for him.
Ayden knows no strangers and thinks of everything as an adventure so this was just a new "adventure" to him.
Ayden settled right in with no problem.
He dropped his supplies off at the table
and sat down for his very first assignment...
Seeing him match up the colors and crayons while working on his sheet brought back so many memories for me of when I first started kindergarten. I loved going to school when I was a little girl. I loved coloring and finding out what kind of worksheets I was going to have that day. I used to pretend to be a teacher when I was younge and set up school for all my stuffed animals. My mom even said that I was playing school in my sleep once.
I kissed him bye and waited anxiously for 3:00 to be able to see how his day was.....
At 3:00 I got in line and waited with all the other moms and dads picking up their little ones
and up until this point there were still no tears but then I see this little man coming down the hall holding his teachers hand and grin at his mom and.... well yeah, mom got a little emotional!
When we got in the car I had him tell me all about his day.
The theme of the day was pirates which was so neat because he wore a pirate shirt that day.
Ayden had a very fun filled day. He made pirate trail mix, did some worksheets, ate lunch in the cafeteria for the first time and got to play on the playground twice!
He said "mom, I learned that the pole that has the ball on the end of the string, well that is for hitting not swinging from, I learned that twice mom"
His first worksheet says "Aargh you ready for kindergarten?"
and Ayden says, "yes mom, I'm a big boy now!"
