It was a big weekend for our church this weekend. Every year the first weekend in October we have "Offering Fit for a King" This is a time when pastor Ferrell challenges every attender of Whitley/The Bridge to tithe 10%. It's not a fundraiser or anything like that, it's a time to test God and see if he is truly faithful. If your a regular tither then your encouraged to give a little more and if you do not tithe then your encouraged/challenged to just try it. In Malachi 3:10 God says "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." This is the only area that God really does want you to test Him. Sunday we had a great worship service and the word was given and then at the end they had everyone that wanted to participate in the Offering fit for King to bring their offering to the front. Joey and I always sit at the back so we can slip out easily if we are needed so we were able to see the big picture of the families walking up and place their sacrificial offering into the glass. What a beautiful view to see, giving your tithe is a form of worship and we were able to see a great "worship service." I thought about families that may have someone who lost their job or truly were giving a tithe that they had to sacrifice for. I can speak from experience and know what it's like to put an offering in and go "ok God how are going to make this work, how are we going to eat this week; " but I can also speak from experience and know that not once did we go hungry and every time, I mean every time God showed up that week with more. As humans its so hard for us to understand God gives us the entire 100% and all He asks back is for 10% and if we do that thenHe is going to bless us again! What an awesome God we serve. Joey and I can give testimony after testimony on how important it is to tithe. God has blessed us so much in times in the most unpredictable ways when we needed it . We have had money (large amounts) left in our mailbox, refund checks from old accounts that showed up years later, a free lunch when we didn't have the money for it, clothes, ect. that we needed and they just appeared. So many times we would say God we really need _______ and we would give something away to a person in need and the very next day what we needed would be there. Notice I said the word "needed" God doesn't always supply our "wants" but our "needs" He always takes care of. God is our heavenly father and any parent knows that kids don't need to get everything they want because sometimes it would not be good for them. I am blessed because Joey and I were taught early what a blessing it is to give back. I can't imagine how many blessings and the joy that we would have missed out on if we would have not been taught on tithing.
Wow, three babies in three years, married 11 years and loving every bit of it!
