Weekend update.......

Friday when I picked the kids up I was greeted by my blue faced two year old. "Mommy I got to color" Brock said grinning from ear to ear. My thought was I'm glad it's on his face on not all over the bathroom wall like Ayden did a couple of months ago! Friday night Jannah stayed the night with us. The kids all went to sleep about 10:00 and at 7:00 the next morning I had three little people standing in front of my bed saying "Wake up, wake up, I'm hungry" Brock said I want French toast, and eggs, and french toast, and pancakes!" We settled on French toast and eggs with a side of French toast. After we cleaned breakfast up when went outside. I hate going outside, as a little girl I always stayed inside and cleaned and took care of the house (I was the oldest) so as an adult I would rather just stay inside and clean. So, when we went outside I took a bucket of soapy water and cleaned all of the swings and things while they played, it was a nice little compromise :) We came back in and made a huge bowl of soup made out of all the assorted blocks in the house. Jannah was like a little momma mixing up her colorful "soup" and pouring it out into bowls to serve to the rest of the babies. They all sat around the little cars table and pretended to eat their soup. Next we got the paints out and I let the kids paint whatever they wanted, well, except Bethany because it was apparent that she wanted to paint the inside of her mouth so she got crayons and after she finished eating her second crayon she was left with a dry clean paint brush and her imagination. Jannah's mom picked her up at lunch time and brought us Chick fil' A which is my kid's favorite for a Saturday lunch! The kids had their chicken strips and some of mom's fries and then all laid down for a nap. Naptime is when I kick it into high gear. I went to war mopping the floor, doing laundry, vacuuming, dusting, doing dishes, & cleaning the windows & blinds. About 2 hours later all the kids woke up so I got them ready so we could head out to see "itshugrandma." As soon as the boys jumped out of the car they headed right for their scooter and 3 wheeler and starting making laps around grandma's car. Bethany and I headed to the grocery store and were in and out in no time. Joey and I had pizza for dinner and pot pies for the kids. (Hey, don't judge, everybody isn't a good cook and a pot pie is full of vegetables (processed vegetables, but they are vegetables) :) Now dinner time could be a whole blog of it's own. Our kids are so funny when they eat. I have my picky eater whose funny about textures (Ayden) my eater who never gets full (Bethany) and my eater that will eat it as long as you call it chicken (Brock) it never fails they always keep us laughing or crying one! Saturday night after dinner I went over to my mom and dad's house to help my little sister paint her room. In just a few shorts months she will be welcoming a little boy into her life. She was painting the room from a dark blue and green to a yellow with a light blue trim. I am not good at painting so I don't think I was much help unless she wanted the yellow "polka dots" of paint on her carpet for extra decoration. Jennifer my sister in law really helped my sister a lot and as of 6:30 Sunday night they had completely finished her room, complete with new paint, new curtains, all the furniture moved around and a sweet baby crib for a new addition. One thing that I truly appreciate about my parents is that they always let us kids do our own thing. If we wanted our rooms a certain color or even choosing the church that we went to. When my little sister's room used to be my room I painted it every color you could imagine and as long as I bought the paint and painted it myself then I was able to do whatever I wanted with it. I learned from an early age how to take care of stuff because I had to live with the outcome. Sunday we went to church and learned about how to deal with anger. The sermon series is called "How to let off a little steam without getting burn" It's pretty interesting. Sunday night I got to go to Chick Night at C3 Church in Clayton with some great ladies and a precious little girl. Five of us ladies went to C3 and worship and heard the word with about 600 other women in Christ. It was great. I love going to C3 church, they have a great team of volunteers that are always so happy to serve. God has really blessed that church that started in a school cafeteria and now has thousands of people that attend each weekend. God has blessed them because they bless others. The message last night was on Luke 15, the prodigal son. Martha switched it up a little and made it a story about two daughters and a father instead of two sons and a daughter since it was a night about about chicks. The point was that this daughter (son) ended up in a pig pin, a place she never thought she'd be. How many times have we went through life and got to a point where we said "I never thought I'd be here" I know I have. Then we looked at the characteristics of the father. He was generous, anticipated greatness, filled with love and compassion, moved to action, loved to give great gifts, and loved to celebrate. That is a perfect picture of our heavenly Father! We also looked at the older sister (brother) who stayed back with her father and did not leave, she was the "good one" and didn't understand why her sister (brother) was getting a party for leaving, spending all of her father's money, and then coming back to ask for forgiveness. Wow, how many of us have been there? We are mad a God for showing mercy and grace to someone who "deserves" to be punished. I'll let that sit for a minute....... I know I've been guilty of that, judging someone, and I so easily forget that once God showed me that same mercy and grace and forgave me and welcomed me back. The "good" daughter was a great do er but she lacked a relationship. If she had a true relationship with her father she too would have been right there at the door waiting for her sister to come home; she would have had the heart of her father and she would have completely "got it. " God really spoke to me with this sermon. So, again, it was a great weekend!
