My Little Princess

When I found out that I was going to have a girl I was scared to death. "A girl, I don't know what to do with little girls" I said. The further along I got in my pregnancy, I started sorting through all the little girl clothes and thinking about dresses, and hair bows, and baby dolls. I could not imagine how I was going to get those tiny little rubber bands in her hair????? It didn't really hit me though until the nurse brought her back in to my room about an hour after I had her..... Bethany Grace was in my arms ... I had a little girl... a precious, baby girl! Bethany is a little over a year and a half now and it is amazing how their little personalities come out so young. She's into carrying her purse and brushing her hair. She knows that babies like to be held and even says "shoosh, shoosh with her sweet little finger up to her mouth, when she sees a baby in case they might be sleeping. She still loves to be held and have someone put her paci in her mouth. She loves for her brothers to kiss her bye everyday when we drop her off in her room. She's the baby girl and she knows it! Now don't get me wrong she's a mess too! Her new favorite word is no and she's knows exactly what she's saying when she points that same sweet little finger as she is telling you "no." She has a very strong will and will definatley let you know when she doesn't like something. She is exactly what I wanted in a little girl, she can be a sweet little priss pot and tough when she needs to be. This weekend was Bethany's first "girly" party. A friend of mine from church Cathy had a "Fancy Nancy" birthday party for her daughter Brooklyn who was turning three. It's funny because her nickname is "Brookie" and she is the middle child and my middle child's name is Brock who I call "Brockie" as a nickname (just one letter difference) anyway, off subject... sorry. When we walked into the party Bethany got to pick a tutu, butterfly wings, a hair bow, & a bowa. There was a table set up to paint your nails and the kids even got to decorate their own cupcakes. Bethany was so precious as all the little girls were in her outfit, she let me paint her nails and then enjoyed playing in the playroom going head first (of coarse) down the slide with tutu in air. For those two hours it was just mommy and her little girl. It makes me want to cry as I'm writing this, just thinking about helping her pick out what color tutu she wanted and thinking "one day it will be a prom dress and then a wedding dress!" The song Cinderella comes to mind, this song really does sum it all up; babies grow up before you know it so take time to "dance with Cinderella" . She spins and she sways to whatever song plays, Without a care in the world. And I'm sitting here wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders. It's been a long day and there's still work to do, She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you! There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'" "Oh please, daddy, please!" Chorus: So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone. Verse 2: She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed She wants to know if I approve of the dress She says, "Dad the prom is just one week away And I need to practice my dancin' "Oh please, daddy , please!" Chorus: So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone Verse 3: Well she came home today with a ring on her hand Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned She says, "Dad the wedding's still six months away but I need to practice my dancin' "Oh please, daddy , please!" Chorus: So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone
