Brock's 5th birthday was the funnest birthday to plan so far. Brock decided he wanted a "dinosaur themed" birthday which was super easy because there is a "Brachiosaurus" dinosaur which sounds just like a "Brockasaurus"He decided that he wanted sandwiches for the food which was soooo sweet because he had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for his second birthday so it made me feel like I wasn't losing my baby Brock so quickly. The invites went out and the day before I made 25 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and 25 ham and cheese sandwiches and then cut them into dino shaped and froze them.
The day of his birthday we all went to McDonalds for breakfast so Brock could have his bacon egg and cheese biscuit, hashbrowns and an orange juice.
We lit a candle and sang Happy Birthday
"make a wish"

At school he got to be "student of the day" (which he loved!)
Then he got to go to Chick fil A for dinner where Grandma with the Gator gave him an early present.... new cleats for his game!
It ended up raining so we headed home early and had to break the cleats in another day.
When we got home Brock had some mail, birthday cards from his great grandma & papa Lancaster

The next day, Saturday, May 5th was the big day!
There was an 80% chance of rain that day... but we prayed God would hold the rain off and started setting up about 1:30 pm
at 3:00 the party began and everyone started arriving
Brock was so excited
When guest arrived they got to be a PALEONTOLOGIST FOR THE DAY
First, they had to go on a "dino dig" to find their dinosaurs
then they headed over to get their name tags and make a "dino fossil"
Everyone got to get their face painted
and a dinosaur tattoo
for snacks we had sandwiches, chips, animal cookies, cheese and cucumbers.
The adults hung out on the gazebo
while the kids went wild in the park!
The adults ended up wondering out in the park
Little Lukas was born a few weeks after this picture was taken
"Time for cake and presents!"

My friend Brandy (and also Brock's daycare teacher when he was 2-3 years old) made the neatest cake with cupcakes that had "dino nests" on them.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Brockasaurus, happy birthday to you!"
one more tattoo for nephew Logan
After filling up on cake Brock decided he could get his face painted
now it was present time!
Brock got lots of toys
and money
and gift cards!
Ayden was sure eyeing all those gifts :)
one of his favorites was a Batman shirt
all the gifts were so nice and personal, Brock was really blessed with some great things.
This is a sweet photo because, this little boy, Shane, (well big boy now!) has been at Brock and Ayden's 1st and 5th birthdays and is always so sweet to read the cards for them. (see below)

After we opened presents it looked like it was going to rain so we decided to have story time on the gazebo
Natalie, Bethany's "best friend" was so sweet to read to everyone.
and Kim did some more face painting
Kim is so talented, we were really thankful to have her be part of Brock's day.
Once all the dinos were found that could be dug up and every recieved their dino mask it was time to say "be extinct" and head home.
after most everyone had left we snuck away and rode the train, we were going to just ride once but a nice man gave us a ticket to ride several times

mom, even jumped on a couple times!
Getting ready for the tunnel!
While the adults cleaned up, the kids had a dino egg hunt
all the eggs were filled with candy!
We loaded up and were home by 5:30 that afternoon. It was perfect timing because just as we got everything in a horriable thunderstorm struck! We were so grateful for the rain holding off long enough for a great birthday party.
When we got home the fun began opening up all the gifts back up and getting to play with them!

Brock was so excited because since he turned 5 he was officially old enough to attend kids church instead of preschool that Sunday!
He walked in that kids church building one proud boy!
After church my brother Wesley took him to the movies to see The Avengers
It was so sweet of Wesley. He had to leave his little boy, Sebastian (who favors Brock so much) with grandma so him and Brock could go
Brock was a happy camper!
A few days later Brock got to spend his birthday money
He decided on a dirt bike .... to go with the other 12 he had at home :)

I love this shot of Brock because it summed up Brock's whole birthday. With all the ciaos and people there right in the middle was what it was all about, my little man Brock. He was painted like a dinosaur with his dino pillow pet (which was really a prince frog but he hasn't figured that out yet) and he was a happy 5 year old starring back at me. Five years before a little 7 pound wrinkled baby boy starred back at me with those same eyes and for a few moments everything stopped and it was just me and him and nothing else mattered because we were both as happy as could be. Happy 5th Birthday Brock! We love you more than you'll ever know until one day you when you look into the eyes of your own and they are starring back at your with the same precious little eyes. mom, even jumped on a couple times!
