Planting a Garden

The week before Bethany's 4th birthday we decided "let's plant a garden"
Joey was against it because it was too late in the season, we had never done it before, ..... I can't remember all the other reasons because at that point I decided I'm going to plant this thing just to show him I can :)
Not healthy or loving I know, but hey, I'm human.
this Saturday Joey was actually out of town helping with an outreach event so me and the boys went to work!
after we went to a local hardware store and picked up some plants and seeds we started on the planting part.
Joey was sweet enough to till up the land the day before (see, he knows his wife very well.... if I put my mind to something it's going to happen)
my sister and mom took Bethany birthday shopping so we had an extra little man around to help us move dirt (my nephew Logan).

I loved this time with the boys because right in the middle of planting Ayden looks up and starts asking questions about God. Even at 6 he knows the story of planting, sowing, reeping and as his little fingers began to plant his heart was stirred up.

we finished off the garden with labels

and a little more moved dirt

the kids drew what was planted on the chalkboard signs, it was soooo precious.
after a little water from Brock's new sprinkler he had got for his birthday
 the garden was complete!
and a month later............
Whala!

I am very thankful for this garden, it may have started out as something done to prove I could do it but just like the dirt was being stirred up and moved around so was my heart in the process.
The project of the garden was such a blessing to me and seeing the "fruit" of it is even more rewarding.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Cheerful Giver

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
