Milestone Birthdays

This was a pretty special day... Not only were we going to a 1st birthday for cousin Lukas but also another 80th birthday party!

Baby Lukas welcomed us with a safari themed birthday with all the family on the Best side.

They even had "Terri the Tiger" plates

Happy Birthday to you. happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear L ... u... k...a..s... happy birthday to you!

He dug right into that cake!

Ayden took the dog mask a little too seriously

Rob & Tiffany are such wonderful parents.
It has been so neat to watch Tiffany grow up over these last 11 years, see her get married and now transition beautifully into the role of a wife and mother
 Happy 1st birthday baby Lukas!

Later that day we headed to the next "milestone birthday" Great uncle JR's 80th birthday.
Uncle JR is Granddaddy Lee's brother (The Lancaster side)
Now when I turn 80 I hope I'm as loved as JR! The small country church was filled with people that loved him. Some got up and told stories about their friend and kin and it was very obvious that he had made an impact on many people.
Brock was so cute; he thought that Uncle JR was a superstar since his name was on the board out front so when he came by Brock whispered "there he is... there's uncle JR" so when he got the chance to go hug him, he thought that was pretty special.
Cousin Maci was there too! Bethany loved that!
This was a really special day. The two sides of the Joey's family that we only see on holidays we got to see in one night ......in May!
This night was an eye opener for Joey and I; we realized that we need to actively try to get together with his extended family more. Every year we say "we should get together more" and then another year goes by. So starting Saturday, May 11th 2013 our vow was to do whatever we could to try to break the tradition of only getting together with his extended family at holidays and invite them to as many things as we could and start a new culture of just hanging out.
Our hope is that next May 11th we will be able to report that our mission was successful!
