This year Ayden moved up to the Cal Ripkin League which is in between tee ball and baseball. This league is for players ages 7-8 and they use a pitching machine to allow more balls to be hit and more action in the field. It was still really cold on their first game so Ayden's uniform had to include an undershirt. This year was a tough one for mom because we had to have the talk... you know the "cup" talk.
Poor Ayden, he's my first born so he's like the "test kid" as I'm learning this parenting thing. We go to the store and I'm holding up cups going "is this one right?" and he is like "mom! seriously your doing this right here?" oh, sorry (blonde mom moment!)
So it was the day of the first game! The whole family was there with little sister being his biggest fan!
They warmed up for a little bit
and then it was game time!
Ayden hit great! He was number 14, same as his basketball number
Bethany was so cute as she cheered him on!
There was a red headed kid on the team named Garret that we kept getting confused with Ayden because they favored so much
First hit and he was on the base!
Sister was proud
The kids loved to hit and the parents loved to see it!
Ayden loved sliding as much as he did hitting.
This time he actually went back and slid again because he didn't get enough slide in the first time ;)
The only problem was he didn't know how to use the other team mates, he would run the ball to first base instead of throwing it, he tried to play the whole game himself which was fun for him but not too much fun for the others.
but with a little more practice he learned how to use all the players in the team.
The kids played great
This league doesn't take score either which is pretty cool because it allows the kids to still have fun being a 7 or 8 year old.
afterwards the coach rallied the kids together and went over the highlights and the things they could work on for the next game.
Papa and Grandma were beaming with their first born grandson now completing another milestone moving up to baseball!
and mom and dad were pretty happy too!
It was a nice day and the kids and that's all that matters because when it's all said and done
Ayden is still .... "just a little boy"
