Kelsey's grandfather, Mr. Lee, graciously offered to take all the kids in Bethany's preschool class on a mule ride
He was a proud grandfather, he grinned from the time he walked into the door until they left
The mules were beautiful
Time to load up!
Bethany jumped right in and left mom on her own to find a seat :(
Well, it turned out the only seat left was at the very front with the driver so this was my view
for the whole trip!
We took a right out of the school parking lot and then another right on to Wilkins Farm road
The scenery was beautiful
The kids loved it too
Look at those grins, I was so glad I got the seat I did so I could capture these faces!
Now this made me want to sing "over the hills and through the woods to grandmothers house we go!"
Mr. Lee let the kids take a turn "driving"
"I wanna drive papa"
Terry's helper got out to see if the mules could make the tight space we had to go through
and they did!
Finally Papa let Kelsey "drive"
The pictures stopped at this point because as soon as I snapped the picture of Kelsey and her grandfather the bottom dropped and it started pouring!
It was the funnest ride back to the school I think any of us had ever had an as soon as we got the parking lot it stopped. The kids got just enough rain to say "we rode in the rain" without it being too much, it was perfect!
When we got back to the school all the kids got a chance to rub the mules and say goodbye.
and then Mr. Lee and he friend rode away with a rainbow over their head.......
this was the last time that we were able to see Mr. Lee.....
Exactly three weeks after this photo was taken Mr. Lee and Kelsey were riding together on a tractor and their life was taken when it was hit by an oncoming car. The next time Bethany would see her friend Kelsey with her papa was at her funeral on Thursday, May 23rd. Bethany and all her classmates wore lady bugs to remember their friend and had the memory of riding mules in the rain to remember her papa.
It was just a sad reminder that life is so short,
we must take every moment and savor it because you never know if it's your last.
James 4:14
14 You don’t even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? It is a mist that appears for a little while.
Then it disappears.
