There's been two "F" words going around the Lancaster house this year really strong.... "Football" and "Fishing" (hey, what words did you think I was talking about??? :) This year we decided to surprise Joey with another fishing themed birthday present with a twist... we included a kayak.... (well, kinda)! Joey only mentioned about 100 times that he wanted a kayak for his birthday.
On his birthday we surprised him with breakfast, a sausage, egg & cheese biscuit, on the monkey plate of course (the monkey plate is for special occasions) and the kids had went all out making cards and singing Happy Birthday.
I got Joey a card with money in it to rent a kayak for the weekend when we went to the beach
and ..... drumroll please..... a piggy bank to save up for a kayak!
Earlier that week (on Sunday) we had a little birthday celebration at Joey's parents house with cake and presents too
He also got some "birthday money" there too so he added that to his kayak fund.
****************
That weekend we headed to the beach where Joey was going to use his money from his birthday card to rent a kayak.... well my boss was nice enough to let him borrow his kayak which meant.....
just a week later Joey was able to have enough money from his birthday, the saved rental money and working an odd job to buy his very own kayak!!!! I think he was a little bit excited!
Birthdays are so fun, especially when you get to see the ones you love enjoy their gifts. This gift will be one though that our kids will get to enjoy for years to come!
Happy Birthday Joey!
